The free to roam phone giants are responding to American cell phone user's growing interest in buying content from sources other than their Cingular.

"Now wise shoppers can personalize their cell phone with Ringtone. It's not necessary to be content with all that boring (stuff), you can have real music instead," supposedly says an expert in the field, whose wireless currently rings a slice of a classic song.

Many devices, so the rumor mill has it, already have Music players so consumers can the favorite playlists in thier collection with them. Cingular did not start with Ringtone. But, Subscribers will be able to synch their cells with their PCs and fill up, or "pre load," the phones with Ringtone.

It's not hard to believe that many see opportunity to secure postions, working for cell phone companies now days is a dream job. A high ranking officer of Cingular spends his days downloading the Ringtone onto a wireless before the Ringtone become available to the general public. He makes sure the songs play right, aren't broken, and meet the needs of the most important gorup, the consumers..

For the established parties in the industry consumers and service and hardware manufacturing providers this is huge. For consumers, Ringtone mean increadbly exciting new and untested possibiliteslar and the continued development of their Cingular as more than Ringtone.
